Core Values

At Smyrna Nazarene we exist to bring the love of Jesus into the pain and suffering in the world. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.” We want you to experience:

HOPE

Real Hope Starts with Jesus

Let’s be real—we all hope for something. A better job, a meaningful relationship, a little more money in the bank. We chase these things thinking they’ll finally make us feel whole, happy, or secure. And honestly, they can be good things. But if we're looking to them for lasting peace or purpose, we're going to end up disappointed.

Here’s the truth: lasting hope isn’t found in success, stuff, or even other people. It’s found in Jesus.

Jesus offers the kind of hope that doesn’t fade when life gets hard. He meets us right in the middle of our mess—with strength, love, and purpose that goes way deeper than anything this world can offer.  So if you're feeling a little lost, tired, or just wondering where your hope is supposed to come from—you're not alone. And you're not without answers.

There’s real, unshakable hope for your heart. And it starts with Him.

HEALING

Real Healing Starts with Jesus

We’ve all made choices we’re proud of—and some we’d rather forget. Maybe you’ve been there, wondering if God’s just…done with you. Like your mistakes were too big, too many, or just not forgivable. Maybe you’ve thought, “Yeah, God can love them—but not me. Not after what I’ve done.”

Here’s the truth: God hasn’t given up on you. Not even close. He sees you. He loves you. And He’s not here to shame you—He’s here to heal you.

God’s heart breaks when we’re hurting. And His deepest desire is to restore what’s been broken—starting with your soul. That’s why Jesus came. Through His death and resurrection, He defeated sin, shame, and even death itself. And now, He offers something no one else can: total forgiveness, deep soul healing, and a brand-new start.

You don’t have to stay stuck in regret or guilt. Healing is possible. And it starts with Him.

PEACE

Peace of Mind Starts with Jesus

Life feels heavy sometimes—okay, a lot of the time. Between financial pressure, job stress, relationship drama, and nonstop bad news, it’s easy to feel anxious, overwhelmed, and straight-up exhausted. Depression and loneliness are on the rise, and peace? Feels like a rare thing.

If you’re tired of living in constant worry, you’re not alone. We all want peace, joy, and something solid to hold onto. The truth is: real, lasting peace isn’t found in a paycheck, a relationship, or a perfect plan—it’s found in Jesus.

Here’s the thing about worry: it tricks us into thinking we’re doing something productive. But all it really does is drain us. Worry keeps us stuck in a future that hasn’t even happened yet—imagining worst-case scenarios and writing endings that God hasn’t written.

Jesus offers something different. A peace that holds up—even when life doesn’t make sense. A confidence that’s rooted in who He is, not in how things are going. God sees you, values you, and promises to never leave you hanging. He’s not afraid of your stress or doubts. He just wants to meet you in the middle of it—with peace that actually lasts.  And it starts with Him.

PURPOSE

Your Purpose Starts with Jesus

“What am I even doing with my life?”  If you've ever asked that, you’re not alone.

A lot of people feel like they’re just going through the motions—jumping from one job, relationship, or phase to the next, hoping something finally clicks. But deep down, most of us are searching for the same thing: purpose. Meaning. A reason to get up in the morning that’s bigger than just surviving the day.

Here’s the good news: you were created on purpose, for a purpose—and that purpose is found in Jesus.

You’re not random. You’re not an accident. God sees you, knows you, and has a plan for your life that actually matters. When you follow Jesus, you don’t just find faith—you find direction. You discover who you were made to be and what you were made to do.

We believe every person has two callings:

  • A primary purpose—to live out and share the hope, healing, peace, and love of Jesus with the world.

  • A personal purpose—a unique role only you can fill to bring light, healing, and restoration to the people around you.

You were made for more than just existing. You were made to make an impact. And that journey starts with Him.
