NMI Quadrennial Theme 2009 - 2013
To Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations
Quadrennial Sub-themes 2009-13
The NMI Executive Committee proposed and the general council and general
convention approved these sub-themes, combining Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8:
2009-2010: To Make Christlike Disciples in Our Jerusalem (family and local
church)
2010-2011: To Make Christlike Disciples in Our Judea (neighborhood, city, and
county/province)
2011-2012: To Make Christlike Disciples in Our Samaria (cross-culturally, state,
and
nation)
2012-2013: To Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations (globally)
These sub-themes will retain the core concept of the quadrennial theme. For the
fourth year, rather than saying "to the ends of the earth", we would retain the
words of the quadrennial theme: "in the nations." We think that to say "to the
ends of the earth" could complicate or distract from our statement of mission.
The parenthetical statements explain what we mean by Jerusalem, Judea, and
Samaria.
Nazarene Mission International (NMI) Mission
Statement:
To mobilize the Church in missions through prayer, education, giving, and
interactive experiences.
Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of
the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. ~
Matthew 28:19-20
NMI Objectives:
-
To encourage people to pray for all efforts of world
evangelization.
-
To inform people of the world's needs and what the
Church is doing to meet those needs.
-
To challenge children and youth to learn about and
participate in the mission of the Church.
- To raise
funds for mission outreach.
NMI is the promotional, educational, program, and fund-raising arm of the
missions. NMI is the organizational representation of the missions for the
Church of the Nazarene on the regional, district, and local levels. The
organization provides the structure and spiritual dynamic for mobilizing the
Church in mission. It keeps mission interest and thrust alive in the Church.
NMI monthly meetings are the second Sunday night
of each month, 6:00pm.
NMI Calendar of Emphases:
There are many facets to our
mission as we fulfill the purpose of NMI. The NMI Calendar of Emphases serves as
a framework around which to build the plans for the year's activities.
